熱愛小恐龍Dinosaur Jr.張牙舞爪、瘋狂聲響的樂迷，聽了主唱J mascis這張''疑問的多邊形Several Shades Of Why''恐怕會大傻眼。我們的電吉他之神怎麼成了憂鬱中年，安安靜靜哼著帶著愁苦的心碎動人小品。儘管80年代就成名至今，這張專輯居然還是J董J mascis的首張個人專輯，也很不可思議。他真是謎一般的人物，不管是狂甩一頭白長髮的瘋狂電吉他手，還是一個人孤寂的彈著木吉他，音樂總是深邃迷人。

行雲流水的木吉他跟電吉他演奏。不刻意卻更顯功力。也是最喜歡的一首。

前面五首都憂鬱悲情，第6首進入修補重建期，逐漸明朗。這首接在精采的''Is It Done''之後，稍微喘一口氣，不過很容易讓人忽略、無存在感。

電吉他回歸，木吉他也跟著奮力刷絃，這首歌比較像我們熟知的小恐龍Dinosaur Jr.

傷感吉他，與歌如此合拍，是不求表現的相輔相成。電吉他之王J mascis這次沒有再出江湖張牙舞爪的宣告，儘管招牌電吉他還是厲害，但這次是內斂、曖曖內含光的另一種味道。

小恐龍Dinosaur Jr.回歸後的兩張新專輯''Beyond超越(2007)''、''Farm心田(2009)''，台灣的小白兔唱片都有代理，但是J mascis這張首次個人專輯卻由喜瑪拉雅拿下，不知是何緣故；一直很喜歡小恐龍的音樂，但總覺得歌詞很淺，沒什麼意思。但是這張''Several Shades Of Why''歌詞卻挺有韻味的，或許之前J mascis在小恐龍的創作，也要顧及樂團傳統、死忠樂迷，不像個人專輯可以大肆放手去做吧。
